Gartner has named LEGALFLY a Sample Vendor for Agentic AI for Legal in its Hype Cycle for Legal Technologies, 2026. It is the technology Gartner expects to transform legal departments over the next decade.
Of the 21 legal technologies Gartner assessed, only two earned its highest benefit rating: transformational. Agentic AI for legal is one of them. Contract life cycle management, large language models for legal and every other technology in the report rate lower.
LEGALFLY is named in three Gartner profiles in total: Agentic AI for Legal, Legal AI Platforms and Advanced Contract Analytics. That spans the highest-impact technology on the curve through to one already proven in the market. Fill in the form on this page for your complimentary copy of the full report.
Why agentic AI ranks highest
Most legal AI today waits to be asked. A lawyer writes a prompt, the model answers, and the lawyer decides what happens next.
Gartner describes agentic AI for legal as a different kind of system. Agents understand legal context, from documents and regulations to the systems around them. They then plan and carry out multistep work such as drafting, contract review and regulatory monitoring, adapting as they go.
That difference is why Gartner rates the benefit so highly. In its view, the impact goes well beyond saving time on individual tasks. As agents mature, Gartner expects legal teams to:
bring more work in-house and spend less on outside counsel
expand capacity without growing headcount at the same rate
ease the bottlenecks that slow the business down
give the rest of the business more self-service
Gartner places agentic AI for legal early on the Hype Cycle, in the Innovation Trigger phase, with 5–20% of the target market using it today. That makes this the moment to pilot, not to wait.

The bottleneck is the point
The last two outcomes on that list are the ones LEGALFLY was built around. In most companies, legal is the team everyone else waits on. Sales waits on contract reviews. Procurement waits on supplier terms. HR waits on policy questions.
LEGALFLY is the Legal Operating System for in-house teams. It keeps legal work flowing between legal and the rest of the business. Business teams self-serve on routine questions, and lawyers spend their time on the work that needs them.

Where else LEGALFLY is named
Gartner profile | Benefit rating | Years to mainstream adoption | Hype Cycle position |
Agentic AI for Legal | Transformational | 5–10 | Innovation Trigger |
Legal AI Platforms | High | 2–5 | Peak of Inflated Expectations |
Advanced Contract Analytics | Moderate | 2–5 | Slope of Enlightenment |
Legal AI platforms
Gartner rates legal AI platforms as high-benefit, with mainstream adoption in two to five years. It defines them as platforms that orchestrate specialised and general-purpose AI agents across legal research, document analysis and drafting, drawing on both legal sources and a company’s own data.
Adoption is still early, at 1–5% of the target market. Gartner sees the value in faster, more consistent contract review and due diligence, less manual work, and automatic tracking of regulatory change.
Advanced contract analytics
Advanced contract analytics is further along. Gartner places it on the Slope of Enlightenment, with 20–50% of the target market already using it and mainstream adoption in two to five years.
Gartner’s advice here is practical: check what your contract life cycle management (CLM) system already covers, then use contract analytics to fill the gaps. That fits how most in-house teams work. They rarely want to replace the CLM they have. They want the review work around it to move faster.
What this means for legal leaders
Gartner’s message to general counsel is not to chase every new tool. It recommends focusing on the technologies with the clearest impact, choosing pilots carefully, setting clear success metrics and deciding early who owns what.
For most in-house teams, that points to three questions:
Where does the business wait on legal today, and what would it be worth to remove that wait?
Which of that work could agents handle end to end, with lawyers reviewing rather than doing?
How will you measure the difference, in review times, outside counsel spend or requests handled?
Agentic AI will take time to reach the mainstream. The teams that start piloting now will set the standard for everyone else.
